Leni Epp auf dem MTB im Grünen

Leni Epp

Between oiling chains and cutting fabric – Leni's life in two gears.

Who am I and what defines me?
I'm Leni, and I ride bikes. Well, I don't just ride bikes — I'm either on my trusty two-wheeler or sitting in front of my sewing machine.

On my bike, I constantly push myself, test my limits, and grow beyond them. But I also love sewing because it gives me the chance to be creative and bring my own ideas to life.

Somehow, it all just fits together for me: on the bike, I go full throttle — and at the sewing machine, I can clear my head while still creating something of my own.

Both are simply part of who I am.

Pushing limits, keeping it fun – my life on the bike.

Racing or just riding?
Both. Racing pushes you to limits you didn’t even know existed. But honestly, what I love most about “just riding” is the time spent with friends. Even if the world feels like it’s falling apart, a few laps with the right people make everything okay again. You learn so much from each other, and you get to give something back, too. Without that sense of community, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today.

Best MTB experience?
I’m not sure if there’ll ever be one best experience. There’s just so much that brings me joy during or after a ride — whether it’s the landscapes, the progress, or the new and old friendships along the way.

Why do I love mountain biking?
The freedom, the pride in my progress, the community.
Actually, it’s easier to answer this question by flipping it: What don’t I love about mountain biking?
Absolutely nothing.

Proudest moment?
I’m proud that I’ve been able to combine fun, success, and friendship through riding — and that this combination continues to support and empower me, whether I’m racing the Megavalanche or coaching kids.

Tip for young MTB riders?
Always stay true to yourself and be confident — and heels down, it’ll save your shins
